PIANO LESSONS

PIANO LESSONS IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

We specialise in providing lessons to adult learners and we welcome all abilities. Our students are either complete beginners or experienced players returning to the instrument after a long break. Most pupils are local City professionals who practice music as their hobby.

GUIDE TO LEVELS

The lessons welcome absolute beginners without any prior musical background all the way to advanced level students. Our lessons can incorporate any genres and are tailored to individual student’s needs, aiding in the development of musical, technical, and performance skills at the instrument.

The BEGINNERS level describes those students that are either starting to learn the piano for the first time or have very recently taken up the instrument. Lessons focus on introducing correct hand positions and posture, as well as learning technical elements, such as note reading, rhythm and fingering. Initial - Grade 2.

Students of an INTERMEDIATE level are those that have some experience playing, generally over two years, and are looking to take their playing to the next level. Lessons incorporate more advanced repertoire, improving reading/hand coordination, harmonic structures, and rhythmical patterns. A more varied range of pieces and technical exercises are taught. Grades 3-6.

ADVANCED students explore works of contrasting musical eras and styles, whilst building a higher level of confidence with the piano. There is a higher emphasis on analytical learning, developing a deeper understanding of complex compositional styles. Students at this level are usually those that have studied extensively either continuously or before taking a break. Performances are highly encouraged for those studying repertoire at an advanced level. Grades 7+.
